Filming-Editng-Final Product

Time taken to film a project to editing to the final project.

Filming a project is only one aspect. A day of filming will take another day of editing. Adding menus and chapters, adding transitions, adding b-roll, cutting down the film, transferring it to the editor, to DVD or on the Internet, and creating labels and covers, all takes as much time as the actual filming, if not more. The more time spent editing, the better the final product will be.

Filming the project takes skill, editing the project is another skill which must be done by someone who can put it all together. When two or more cameras are used, it doubles or triples the time to edit. It is important to keep in mind that from the day of filming to recieving the final project is something that takes time, and should not be rushed.

We have been looking into putting together a few cameras and housings for a variety of purposes. We have built some in the past and do it from time to time. Security cameras, underwater housings and such. I have been interested in setting up some security systems and have been looking for a program to support multiple cameras. Video Resumes

We have been for years helping students build a portfolio through internships and work experience. We have worked with local and out of state colleges in helping students gain experience, knowlege, and a job. In this time, Zilka Media has helped many of these and other students, as well as other job seekers, build their resumes to standout from the crowd. We can construct video resumes that can highlight more than a piece of paper ever can. A media major is not the only people who can use this tool. Though radio and tv pieces are great to add to a video resume, any resume can be turned into a DVD or Powerpoint.

First off, everyone sends a paper resume to a prospective employer. Included with it can be a DVD version of the resume. It can show all of the statistics that the paper one does plus real life shots of various hobbies, work experiences, or special skills. Normally an employer only gets to see a portfolio at an interview. You can let them see some of it before even talking to them. This sets a person apart from everyone else, and works.

Zilka Media can provide a variety of services in the real estate field. From video documentation and inpsections to rental and for sale videos. We have people who have been actively involved in construction and real estate in the past, making it easier for everyone. Whether it's industrial, commercial, or residential, we have experience to do what is needed. Some examples would include inspections of rental properties before tenants move in or after they move out. We can film property etc. for insurance purposes. If you are trying to rent or sell your home, we can film it and post it online, put it on DVD's to send out, or put it on tv. Also, industrial equipment inspections can be done to locate or document problems. That also includes prepurchasing inspections of real estate too.

Zilka Media-Multi-Media Services and Strategies

Zilka Media provides a variety of services for various clients. One is the production of commercials, PSA's, and B-roll. Commercials are a great tool not only for posting on tv, but marketing on the web, in house, or via the mail. They can be used for many years not just one time. We have also filmed PSA's, public service announcements, for non-profits and special causes. In addition to the above many times we are only contracted to film the B-roll for commercials backgroound video and more. This is good for clubs and bars that may have a band or dj playing or for footage that can be used at a later date.

Zilka Media has done numerous commercials and PSA's and have filmed countless hours of B-roll for clients. We have also won many 1st place awards for work on these pieces. These videos can be saved for later dates, put on the web, on tv, or used for promotional pieces. One more way Zilka Media becomes multi-media.

Here is a picture of a tornado we got when we were down south a while back. I didn't have my video camera with me though. This tornado rolled right through our hotel. This is a picture just after it passed by us. It doesn't have much to do with anything. I guess its always good to have a camera nearby.

Sports programs

We are just finishing up a project for a local sports team. We filmed some football games for a team in the area this past fall. Recently we went through and put together a season highlight video for a upcoming party. Each member will be getting a copy of the season highlights. It was a good example of the variety of things Zilka Media does. Filming for sports programs and games, editing of compilations and games, and duplicating multiple copies. We have kept and stored many video files and DVD's for future usage for clients as well. This gives people the opportunity to get more for family members or employees.

We have been adding more videos to our youtube account. Posted now is a sample wedding video and one concentrating on music and art. We are still working on the site to create the best sound and picture quality. We post with mpeg4 mainly. It is fun to get more videos posted so the internet world can see what we can do.

Zilka Media has finally started posting videos online. We had mentioned how we wanted to start posting promotional as well as entertaining videos online, and we have begun. The first is of a Diver using an underwater welder on the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, OH. I also included som e other picutes of divers for the heck of it. Just for your enjoyment. Our video advertising

We were going through our current advertising and the recent work we have done and realized we didn’t have nearly enough videos up on the internet and to send as promotional material to prospective clients. We wanted to be able to better display the variety of services we offer. So we need to make more centralized spots and informational pieces to target our audiences better. To start off we will tape a variety of commercials and informational videos. After, they will be displayed on the internet; Youtube, websites and possibly other advertising venues. We can also use them to send in promotional packages via the mail. By filming a bunch of different videos, more centralized toward what the client specifically wants, we can improve our current advertising and sales. This will be better than the few promotional videos we currently use. Zilka Media is in the process of retooling our advertising and increasing our exposure on the internet as well as setting up our brand name better.

We have experience in a variety of aspects of marketing. We like to concentrate on few spects that many larger companies ignore. One is online marketing. This is one of the most important avenues of marketing and often not given nearly enough attention. Most companies have a website, but they feel that is enough. There is so much more to the web then your website. Online videos, writings, personal pages, and blogs are just a few of the ways a company can enhance the image of their company and get more name recognition out there. Concentrating on sending out specific mail to specific prospective clients rather than a vast messages to people you may not even serve. In addition to the previously mentioned, we can offer a unique twist on webpages. We like to call it a Promotional Webpage. It can consist of a variety of things, but in the end it is an interactive marketing tool. A company can post blogs on it, current events within the company and community, pictures and videos, and a radio station. Members of the company can film video or audio to make it into a show. They can go through and explain a product, play music, highlight clients or employees, and a variety of other things. This is a tool which will keep the user interacting on a variety of topics and formats. Plus they learn more about the company and its goals, its products or services, and employees. We have worked with a variety of people to enhance their online marketing strategies, and in the end expand their sales and business.

Work

We are currently working on a big project that began in mid May. It is a realestate seminar that was filmed at the Marriott in Key Tower in downtown Cleveland a couple of weeks ago. We filmed the event along with a variety of other small projects, and are editing it for their global distribution. We also edited an audio version for them. There are a number of small projects on the horizon also that should be fun. It has been a busy spring and summer thus far, lets hope it is a lucrative one too!

Reconstructing the boat

ZM members have been working on a variety of solo projects lately, all in anticipation of continually expanding our business. I am working on a video archive of rebuilding a boat for UMC. It was a 40 foot Catamaran from Curacao that was cut in half to bring up here to the states. After a month or two journey it has finally made it up here to Ohio. We pulled the two halves out of the semi's and set them up next to eachother. To start out I pulled out the rutters and drive shafts. Next I powerwashed all of thesalt water off the boat. I am currently tearing out all of the old wiring. I found a couple of coconuts down in the hull. Maybe I can get a couple trees growing!

New and improved audio systems

We have updated our audio over the last month making it state of the art. We are consistantly updating and keeping our equipment new. With new microphones, audio recorders, and mixers our system has improved greatly. Now we can make excellent digital recordings for bands, singers, voice overs and more. Zilka Media will eventually be teaming up with CBI Radio again to reform our internet radio and marketing station. We are currently picking up a new library of music to improve on it. Stay tuned for updates on that.

Weddings

The Wedding season is fast approaching and we are quickly filling up. ZM can schedule multiple events for the same day to accommodate whatever one may need. We have the experience and equipment to do whatever is needed. Events in churches, with the justice of the peace, or in a backyard. Some have been simple ceremonies with a Justice of the Peace, and a back yard reception while others have been more elegant with much more involvement. We can work with other photographers, outdoors, or whatever you may need. If the photographer has pictures we can incorporate them into the video or have them tagged on the end as a slide show. There are endless options for your wedding. Feel free to contact us to sit down and plan how you want to remember your day.

Chroma-Key

I had some people asking me what chroma-key is. So, I guess I can explain. Chroma-key is used a lot in tv. It starts with someone standing in front of a usually bright green background. They are filmed, or like the weatherman the map of the US is then shown behind him. The next step is replacing the green drop with another background. A new setting. It could be a picture of someplace or a video so it looks like you are somewhere else. This is really popular with movies. Half of the crazy destinations you see in movies are filmed with a chroma-key effect. There is a lot you can do with chroma-key. Superimpose pictures or video of you in other parts of the world, make special action scenes in movies, or do the weather like Dick Goddard. Chroma-key is a nice little effect that can do a lot, and save a movie maker a lot in travel expenses.

New Equipment

We have added another camera to our arsenal. We purchased another Panasonic for the crew. I am starting to like Panasonic video equipment more I think... Continuing to add and update equipment is important so that we don't get left behind and can deliver what our clients want. As we are continuing to educate ourselves we are better able to serve as well. Recently we have been working more on our chroma-key type of work. Hopefully our endeavors in that field will continue to grow.

Nhaka Afrikan Worldview

We have finished filming the event at The Empress Taytu restaurant specializing in Ethiopian cuisine, for the Nhaka Afrikan Worldview organization. Though a blizzard attacked Cleveland this past weekend, it was still a great event. The organization provides programs and services for the poor and vulnerable living in rural areas in Zimbabwe. Advertising Campaign for 2008

Zilka Media has begun it's 2008 advertising campaign a while back. We have posted an ad on CBC (Catholic Business Connection). We also have ads posted on Backpage and Craigslist. A week or so ago we filmed an event for Nhaka Afrikan Worldview where we were able to set up an area to advertise for ourselves. it worked out well for us. We are in the process of putting together some mailings which I would like to get out in mid-April. Hopefully this can spread our brand name a little and increase one of our base products; weddings. Thus far it has been very successful.
